Communism in western europe fell because those countries were economically destroyed by communism/socialism. It was easier for the corrupt swamp at the top level to "turn coats", let the regime change and buy those few prospering factories for cheap in the following years of privatization. Everything else, the broken rotting infrastructure, was left for the common taxpayers to use and pay for. That's why it was so easy to "overthrow", it was all planned. Heads should have rolled that day but they didn't.

Once socialists get to power, they never give it away until they destroy the country and flee because there is nothing left to steal.

Good times create weak men.
