Nobody's "dooming" over our chances. The opportunity is obvious to anyone with open eyes. We could reform our government in a single day with the proper motivation.

The problem is, seemingly, the motivation. Everybody wants the change but nobody wants to get up and do something about it. In its own way, the "dooming" is a kind of self-motivation. We have to stop waiting for somebody else to take action.
