We could be on our way to the gas chambers and a stranger whisper, "Trust the plan." and many would walk in calmly believing the gas is going to kill their captors.

You have been lulled into a false sense of security.

I am a lawyer, yes. A few points:

(1) I’m not sure what you think happened in 1871. You might be referring to the incorporation of the District of Columbia, but all that did was establish that DC exists as an incorporated legal entity in its own right. It had no bearing on the legal status of the United States.

(2) The United States has, from the time of its inception, been a corporate entity. There’s nothing strange or scandalous about this; all that it is to be a corporation is to have a distinct legal personality that is capable of entering into contracts, suing and being sued, acting under its own name and on its own behalf, etc.

(3) Admiralty law governs maritime disputes; it is not and has never been operative in other contexts. The general legal system in the United States combines common law inherited from the British tradition with codified (statute) law and our Constitution.

Thanks, always good to hear from someone who knows more than me.

  1. With that, didnt DC become its own independent state, like Vatican is? As such, how can an independent state be in charge of the country?

  2. So from creation in 1776 it has been a corporation and not a Republic?

  3. Then why any president (Trump including) when they give a speech, in the background they got the american flags with a golden border around them? That symbolises that the nation is under Admiralty law, given that all ships were corporations and US is a corporation. (Feel free to break down this for me further, I would love to hear your opinion, thanks!)

No; DC simply became a legal entity in its own right, just like every other city in the United States. Each of the fifty states is a corporation. Any entity with a government, including cities, towns, etc. is a corporation; this says nothing about whether or not said entities are legally independent of the United States in the sense of being sovereign.

So from creation in 1776 it has been a corporation and not a Republic?

It’s been both. They’re orthogonal descriptions. A corporation is the legal structure of the United States, the several states, the muncipalities, etc.; a republic is a description of a specific type of government.

Then why any president (Trump including) when they give a speech, in the background they got the american flags with a golden border around them? That symbolises that the nation is under Admiralty law, given that all ships were corporations and US is a corporation.

It’s just a military tradition. The US isn’t under admiralty law, and admiralty law separately isn’t the fundamental law governing corporations, which are generally subject to whatever relevant laws there are in their jurisdictions of incorporation and operation.

Very interesting, I appreciate the elaboration!

So what are your thoughts on the issue? Could you be wrong, given how much you do actually know? (Kinda being inside the box and not seeing the bigger picture, considering you spend a lot of time adhering and learning about the laws?) [Dont take this as me trying to denigrate your knowledge, I appreciate that you know much more than me.]
