I must admit, being from England, I'm finding it impossible to get my head around your Military going along with this. It makes absolutely no sense for them to accept what's happening.

The military has huge inertia in its desire to remain neutral in all politics. At least in the form of the military imposing its will on to any office.

Where "neutral" means following orders regardless of constitutionality. If you rephrase the prior sentence a bit, it works just as well for mercenaries. It could also refer to Tim Fool, if you replace "neutrality" with "fence-sitting"
