God is king, and the only God-emporer. It's possible God is rightly judging our nation for turning away from Him and the solution to that is repentance. Revival is always preceded by repentance. ...and repentance is often preceded by punishment and pain, because we so easily neglect submitting to God when we're comfortable. God disciplines those He Loves, to drive us to repentance and refine us.
