Same for me with my dad! I was a Democrat when he voted Bush in 2004. He used to be a moderate with somewhat conservative values ten years ago, but now he's a leftist for some reason. My mom put him through a divorce around 10 years ago. They got back together, but he's been different ever since. This really showed once Trump was running. He used to make fun of liberals.
