Because it's not the people's vote that counts for the president, but the electors. And the state representatives can send any electors they want. Our electoral college for president isn't like other elections in our country. So at this point, it doesn't matter. It's too late. No more hopium. Sorry. For any other election you could arguably change the outcome, but not president because of the electoral college.
