Where exactly has taking the "high" road ever gotten us?

The left controls EVERYTHING.

They control the news media.

They control our entire education system.

They control all of pop culture.

They control the internet.

They control our entire government.

They control the courts.

They control our law enforcement and military.

They control all major sports.

They control our healthcare.

They control "science".

They control our elections.

They control EVERYTHING.

You want to know why?

Because they get out in the fucking streets and fight when they don't get what they want and it fucking works.

By that logic, the USSR should've won the cold war.

LOL do you really think that the USA took the high road during the cold war. We were fighting them in proxy wars and arming the taliban in Afganistan.

My point is this: USSR controlled "EVERYTHING". They even controlled most of the USA.

How did that turn out for them?

Why did they fail?

They failed because their ideology is eventually self defeating.

But I'm afraid your point frankly misses the point. If they destroy you before they destroy themselves then it's a poor consulation prize. Fighting them and destroying their structures of power is the only way you stay out of the gulag.

We did fight the USSR. We lost in some respects, but we accomplished the goals we wanted to accomplish.

We didn't have to control all the levers of power. It's not necessary. In fact, gaining so much control is pointless unless you have an intention with those controls and your supporters agree with your intentions.

We are fighting a different sort of war right now, and the enemy isn't just the USSR anymore. We're taking on the largest global threat that has existed since the beginning of history. We are fighting with man's insatiable appetite for more money and power, and the corruption that goes along with it. By default, we're starting off with a terrible disadvantage, because the power-hungry inevitable obtain all power.
