I have been feeling very down and depressed. I have always been a "catholic" but never really practiced besides my parents bringing me to church and going through basic cdc. I want to get into the bible and the teachings of god, but I do not know where to start and where to go from there. Would someone be able to give some suggestions? I feel like god is something this country needs desperately.

I feel ya. I was raised with one Protestant and one Roman Catholic parent.

If you want a totally based Bible study, look into Shepherd's Chapel, with Pastor Arnold Murray (now his son, Dennis Murray, as Arnold has passed away after 50-plus years of preaching). It is chapter-by-chapter, verse-by-verse, plainspeaking explanation of Scripture, clean enough for family study. Never any scandals about sex or money scams in all the decades of the program, and the pastors draw no salary for ministering. He was a farmer from Oklahoma, set up his church in Arkansas after serving as a Marine drill sargent during the Korean War. Bonus? He was accused of being a white supremacist and anti-Semite by those lying jerks at the Southern Poverty Law Center, AND when someone rushed his studio one time when on air, he pulled a gun out of his briefcase. I've been following his program, one hour per day, for 25 years. The first forty minutes are Scripture, and the last twenty minutes is answering letters from viewers and listeners.

One more thing: Buy a Strong's Biblical Concordance, a King James Authorized Bible, AND NO OTHER TRANSLATIONS, some of which even remove verses! Bullinger's Companion Bible is KVB. When you are stronger in your studies, then you can get a Green's Interlinear Bible.

Best prayers for wisdom for you.
