The alternative is that we are now in an actual dictatorship where voting is a farce, the economy is about to be utterly destroyed, personal rights and freedoms are about to be stripped, eerie end times stuff like forced vaccinations are about to be rolled out, demonic activity like sexual experiments on kids under the guise of "trans rights" are about to become "normal" and there is nothing we can do about it because this isn't muskets vs muskets when the military is "just following orders" against Nana with her flag. I don't think it's at all surprising that plenty of people are still hoping for a plot twist.
