What is IRC? Its a chat protocol thats over 32 years old, and virtually all modern communications applications draw inspiration from IRC (or incorporate it in some way like slack and twitch).

IRC started it all and is still used by over 300k+ users a day through various IRC networks. You can find other networks and channels that fit virtually any hobby! Think of channels on IRC as a chatroom to a /r/sub, just no redditards!

Why do you care? You choose the network you connect to, they are all run by individual groups, and its a ALTERNATIVE to big tech. And it always has been.

About 50 fellow pedes have found ourselves on EFNet IRC Network (Great free speech wild west styled network) in the channel #TDW, come lurk talk and chat with us! Just connect to EFNet in a IRC client (its pre-populated in most clients), and join #TDW.
