There is this habit amongst most of America to go back to old habits now that the pressure has been dialed down. As I read through 1984, the way Winston talks about the proles is quite similar to Americans. That they return to an almost ancestral way of just living life regardless of the injustices imposed by the Party.
We can't just go back to watching Fox News, or going to movies, or video gaming as a normal course of life. Nothing is the same anymore. We can't just expect to show up in two years and give it the vote once more.
Republicans and Democrats are traitors to this nation. They will steamroll us proles, if you will, so long as we don't get uppity and complain. We are the governed but we are not subjects.
It is time to shake off the dust of indifference and let the world know that we are more powerful than they think. We need to let everyone know just how powerful our lungs truly are. That starts with what we can control.
We can control how our dollars at home are spent. We can control how our time is spent. We can control how our conversations flow. We have immense power to create a real difference in our local worlds. It would sadden me to see so many of you return to life as it once was. It would sadden me if I did the same.

Orwell's 1984 has proven to be the most prophetic book of recent times and you are absolutely correct. Freedom didn't end today. Freedom has been under a viscous attack for a long time and what happened today was the beginning of new fight to regain the loss of freedom.
Local politics like school board and city council is how you win.
A major part of what made Trump so powerful is that he built a movement as an entertainer. His rallies were amazing fun and were far more entertaining than some obnoxious leftist netflix show.
This is a complete culture war we have to continue doing what Trump did.

I no longer watch movies or any TV really. None of it represents our lives any more so I don't find it entertaining. I listen to podcasts for news and guidance. Started going to a modest church that openly supports President Trump and refuses to close no matter what the mandates. I quit netflix, amazon, walmart, and a host of other left-donating businesses. I have stopped talking to lefties because their minds are so far gone and I know they will only accuse me of being a Trump cult follower or zombie - their projection - so what's the point. I like Steve Bannon's idea of hibernating for now and not spending $$ beyond necessities.
So, no former life for me, but I'm still not yet finding where or how to best fight. That will come as we get over this initial shock and leaders start to show themselves.
