While it's true that local races in most areas are largely corruption free, the problem is that corrupt political machines control the government in the cities. Any statewide race is subject to corrupt votes from those political machines.
Look at what happened in PA, WI, etc.: the governors unilaterally changed the rules. And the courts let them.
I'm not saying it's an easy fight. But it's either we fix the system from the bottom up... or go slaughter a bunch of "nobility".... and that one leads to millions of dead Americans. So let's just start with really working on local changes.
