There's no hidden white hats in the swamp working to save us all, and many of us had delusional pipe dreams that this was gonna be easy. The world is fucked, and a few techies in silicon valley colluded with government and oligarchs to take over the world.
It's a really bitter pill to swallow. We have come to realize that the world at large was seeking to chew us up and spit us out. The internet we engage with, the TV, our HR departments, and slowly our friends and family were turning against us and each other. It's like something out of the twilight zone, we were enemies in our own country and we were the last to find out.
At least we know where we stand now. At least we understand the gravity of the situation. 4 years ago we were bickering about star wars going to shit and gritting our teeth as we were systematically being removed from culture and the workforce.
