Because of Amy fucking Schumer being a hack they removed a perfectly good system to see at a glance what was needed to be avoided. User review comments had no chill either, those were the days.
I wasn't too worried at the time but it has sensed morphed from being "here are shows based on what you like" to "here's what's trending" and you know damn well that trending is purely what they want to trend, just like Youtube.

There's no reason why it wouldn't be removed on the actual video in the future.

Well maybe. I sort of doubt that. I notice that we have become a strange pathetic bunch of people. Want to learn Japanese? Sure there's an app for that which is just like a game where you level up, complete, get rewards, follow others, be followed. Everything but actually learning fucking Japanese for the sake of learning Japanese because you want to and have the brains and discipline needed to do so. Nope gotta turn into a big game and popularity contest or nobody is interested. We are sort of slot machine society I think. Nothing means anything without bells and whisltes and the adoration of anonymous strangers. You take away the like button and half the people will not longer give a shit. Do I want like buttons and other crap like that do go away, absolutely. Let's get back to being real men and women. Will it go away, not on your life because they have hooked those they want and will refuse to let them go. That Like Button is just like a fishing hook. They'll keep it and automate the manipulation and censorship.
Everything in the consumer market has become gamified. It uses the technology to hook us like a crack addict. The "product" isn't something that teaches you how to speak Japanese, the "product" is your attention. It's just another way to get you to look at ads, click links, buy more shit, etc.
