Today is a big day - after five years, The Donald has rebranded to Patriots.win.
Don't worry: your accounts still work exactly the same, posts are the same, comments are the same, and the moderators are the same.
The first reason goes without saying... we're in a period of transition with yesterday's fraudulent inauguration. It will likely be some time before Trump gets back to actively communicating with his base, but we intend to do what we can to keep our part of this movement as active as ever.
We're not turning against Trump - not at all, our branding and our rules will remain the same for the immediate future. If Trump moves forward with the rumored Patriots Party, then we're perfectly positioned to fully support him in that endeavor.
For now, we'll shift our focus to calling out China, censorship, and Biden's evils that the media doesn't cover. We now have a more important role than we have since November 2016.
It is our duty to step up and call out the disaster that this administration will be.
We also intend to do more to get people involved in elections at a local level, including the potential of more localized communities.
This rebrand does not indicate a change in moderation policy.
The secondary reason for our rebrand is a precarious situation with the old domain. The TL;DR is that we don't have control over it, and we cannot risk that any longer.
TheDonald.win was always meant to be owned by a group, not a single man. Unfortunately, the domain was registered by a single moderator during our initial discussions about the prospect of moving away from Reddit. We pushed for the domain to be transferred to a shared legal entity before we ever released, but despite promises, it never happened, and we launched our Reddit backup in a hurry without getting the situation resolved. We knew this would come back to haunt us - and perhaps it has.
The man with control of the domain left the mod team a week ago, out of fear for himself and those around him. While he stated just two days ago to the media that he'd hand the domain over to one of our moderators with whom he has a good relationship, unfortunately that wasn't true, and doesn't look like it will be happening.
Given all of the above, the risk is too great. We're rebranding to Patriots.win, which is legally owned by five of our long-term moderators.
This also explains why we were pushing the backup domains so hard, and why I made a post warning you all about the potential of an 'FBI Honeypot'. That absolutely remains true, but the number one threat was a backstabbing by our own people, which thankfully has not occurred.
The final obstacle is that since we don't have control over the old domain, we don't have the contact with our domain registrar (Epik) that we should have, and our previous contact (the man with control of the old domain) is no longer relaying any information to us from Epik.
We hope and expect that TheDonald.win will continue to point to our servers even after our rebranding. We're incredibly important to the MAGA movement, and it would be a great disservice to try to take us down, especially during this tumultuous time.

I'm ok with this change, but don't like it. Trump is our party. Trump is our brand. Trump is everything to this movement. I understand the issues involved with this, but want to share my feelings of dislike over the domain change.
Edit: Thank you mods for converting our saved links to the new domain and not ruining them for us. I have a huge collection. I also had a huge collection on reddit/r/The_Donald that was lost when they wasted us.

Edit3: Feature request - Posting here for visibility. We should have the option of making our saved folders available to other users. For example, if you click on my username, you should be able to see my saved folders and the content of them, if a user enables that option. This would allow us to share great resources with ease.

I like something that Nick Fuentes said: What we should remember from Trump is the myth, not necessarily the man. It was one man, one guy, one elite that went rogue, to seriously disrupt the system. 2016 was a landmark because it was supposed to be Hillary Clinton vs. Jeb Bush, and the disruption that was brought by the campaign was a mass awakening to the possiblity that something different was possible.
Myths are a major stretch of the truth. Trump was not a stretch of the truth. It actually happened, and he should be studied by patriots for the rest of history.

Agreed. This movement is about restoring liberty and lawfulness in this country. Trump has done so much for us but if we made this all about Trump then it's nothing more than hero worship.

Same. I still hold fierce conservative values that are very much aligned with what was the Republican Party in theory, but I have evolved into something different entirely, politically speaking. I am also done with establishment politics.

Nobody worships Trump except for maybe Q people if they still exist. The only reason we follow him like this is because he has fought for us like no other president, thus we fight and back him like no other supporters.

To be honest, after yesterday the traffic will trend to shit regardless. Too much infighting, not to mention demoralization...it's an uphill battle now. At least for the short-term to mid-term. A lot of people will give up and leave because that's what they've been conditioned to do for the last few decades: compromise and move on while trending towards "progressivism". "Our candidate lost, I should just move on"--as if we didn't just lose our Republic to corrupt communists. This wasn't about another 4 year term like in the past. Pisses me off.

Nah, Trump didn't start this movement. The seeds were planted by Ron Paul in 2008, the Tea Party Movement helped it grow, GamerGate chipped in as well, and then Trump turned it into a major movement and a major threat to the establishment.

I think Trump was able to untie many different movements who all had the same goal. Gamer Gate and Pizza Gate for instance... each group combined their high energies with other political movements to achieve an even higher level of energy to help us propel Trump to GEOTUS status.
