ANY THOUGHTS ON SIGNAL MESSENGER? HEARD GOOD AND BAD

Hello, I’ve heard that signal is a good messenger for end to end encryption and that is was recommended by Snowden.

Someone close to me has said that there are issues with it according to some Pedes, although he was unfamiliar with the actual problems.

Can anyone confirm if Signal App is safe or not? Who owns it?
