I just went to nitter, looked around, cannot figure out what it is or how to use it.

Does a person have to download apps or something to make it work?

When it works, and it has till now, it is a new front end for twitter than is not fucking twitter.

In any twitter link change twitter.com to nitter.net (keep the rest of the URL) and you will be looking at the tweets on nitter.
