Being even a genius in one profession does not make one a genius in everything. Quite often they may stumble worse than somebody who is a noob because they may assume they can figure out what is going on, based on how they have done in their specialty field, while actually being completely off the mark because they just don't understand what they are dealing with now.

if anyone EVER, EVER tries to tell me that some plan they're working on or know about is 100% foolproof, 10 out of 10 guarantee, i'll know right away that person is a fool and has bad judgement. there's no such thing as a foolproof plan. and a fucking general should know that. his job was dealing with plans and knowing how they CAN fail, because all plans can fail. as a general he should've known that. this is all very simple basic logic here, there's no middle ground or room for disagreement. he literally said the plan CANNOT FAIL. and he was monumentally WRONG.
he could've simply said 'trump has a plan and i think it's a good one'. or hell, the very absolute bare minimum LEAST he could've done was say he was 9 out of 10. which still leaves open some possibility for failure.
it's when you go making promises to people that you can't keep, that's when you're a fuckup. you say 'i'll try my best' or 'i think it will work out', you never say it absolutely will, no chance it won't. and especially not when in reality, the chance of trump getting a 2nd term back on the 5th, THAT was the slim chance. but flynn flipped it around and said it was 10 out of 10! it was probably really more like .0001 out of 10! i mean you can't possibly BE more wrong about anything than flynn was about that! just try!
