Was contacted by a company to apply for a position with them just outside of the city.

It depends. Madison is liberal as fuck. But if you’re coming from a blue state, it might be worthwhile to be in a swing state where your vote is more likely to have an impact

Pretty leftist. Not Portland level, but not great. Wisconsin is full of wannabe southerners that can't give up their big union overlords, even if the factories left for Mexico 2 decades ago. It's a depressing place to live overall unless you want to devote most of your time on this earth to the Pack and/or the Badgers. If it's a great job and big money, it might be worth it - otherwise, work from home someplace safer and less miserable.

Sorry Wisconsonpedes. I know this is harsh.

U of W is there so yes leftism abounds. But probably more red than anyone knows. The place went democratic in the election because of election fuckery and not because there's more dems that voted democratic. The same goes for Milwaukee. I like Wisconsinites. Wonderful people.

Very! I work in Madison, take my word for it. However, you don't have to travel too far to get away from it. Many people live outside of Dane County, where Madison is (surrounding Counties have lower housing cost) and commute.
