The big Chinese letters below is "愛父", which, if read left-to-right, would mean "loving father", and if read right-to-left, "father's love". Traditionally Chinese was written right to left, but I am not sure if they now write it in which direction.
My guess is that that statue is some sort of an exemplary father and son.
