it's not a Marines thing. It's an officer/enlisted thing.

Typically, you'll see the Enlisted Marine salute the Officer first, the Officer is then REQUIRED to salute them back. To not is against the UCMJ.

The only time they don't salute is in a theatre of war because snipers like to pick off officers.

I read a comment earlier that basically said what you said, but added that there are certain properties/locations where saluting is either prohibited or not necessary.

Under a ceiling or covering not suppose to salute in the USMC, Actualy not even suppose to wear cover (hat) indoors but it may be different rules for the President.

I could have worked for AF1 but declined. It wasn't as a Marine guard. Have to be a certain height for that job. It was as an admin clerk for the pilots. I decided no way. Would have had to play dress everyday and other Marines calling me office bitch all the time.

OFFICE BIIIITCH

I worked with supply guys several years ago. Got to spend some time on the Wasp. Worked with Navy and my brother in law was Army. Lets just say I'd absolutely be a Marine if I had ever stopped being so political in high school and signed up. Dudes are fucking crazy.

Yeah, I was an office bitch in the USMC but a Combat Officer (CPT) in the NG.

[inner voice intensifies]

They are like sailors, without all the "hot racking" and more rifle training, dad.

Or am I totally wrong with both assumptions and starting to think crazy?
