It is green because it reduces emissions from transportation massively . The demand for oil globally is only going to go up. China Brazil Chile India and other developing nations are in the 50s as far as economies go and they are and will continue to heavily rely on non renewables for decades . The United States will continue to diversify our energy sector through innovation and technology in part funded and fueled by already existing energy companies. Boon Pickens has one of the largest wind farms in the country in Texas and Oklahoma . He’s an oil tycoon (he may have passed now ) the companies are all going to diversify the portfolio amd not allow themselves to just be starved out.
Keystone XL brings the United States and Canada more cooperation and allows us to export energy to a world full of energy hungry nations, who will regardless of the pipeline secure those energy needs wherever possible . We can be a part of that and grow our economy and relationships , therefore increasing funds to further technological innovation , or we can lose out on trillions in the decades to come because of short sited ideologies that push polices because it makes them feel good and not through rational long term thinking
