There's actually no great conspiracy here. It's just a bunch of people who want to appear very smart, when they aren't. So they "re-invent" a word to make it seem "new". Some of them might be nefarious, but most just have an inferiority complex after not qualifying for a real academic subject. In linguistics this is called "obscurantism" and the methodology attempts to "fuzzy" words into wider, more abstract terms which cause cognitive overload. To use a computer analogy, they are trying to crash your CPU processor.

Here's how it works:

1. Leftoid says stupid thing with "clever" terminology.
2. Pick out the word, swap it for the more accurate one.
3. Repeat the question back calmly. Do not get mad.
4. There will be confusion. Wait for them to regroup.
5. THAT'S NOT WHAT I SAID.
