The moves by McConnell were so shocking that Kentucky Republicans are now lashing out against the Senator for not being “consistent with what he promised us when he was running.”

I spent some time living there when I was a teenager, and I saw it first hand. 24yo guys with 13yo girls. It's like the middle east there in some parts, where if you're a 16yo boy, you generally ain't getting a girlfriend, because all the 16yo girls are dating much older men.
All the boys there can do in some parts is hope they get old enough that they can get a girlfriend of their own, because the older guys have all the girls in their age group locked down.
I also saw things like school teachers having relationships with their 16yo students and marrying them straight out of high school. And many parents simply don't care, especially in the rural areas.
