I am a female with a high mathematical aptitude. I worked in the USAF and civilian sectors in a stem field and outpaced my male peers, first because of my technical ability and then because of my ability to communicate technical concepts in simple terms. Your generalizations are just that. I could say men are hindered by insecure ego issues but that too is a generalization. In my experience I have been able to compete intellectually with men. I cannot compete physically nor do I want to. Most important to note: in my journey, it wasn't my abilities in the workplace that became an issue, ultimately it was my desire. I wanted to be home and raise my kids once I had babies. I wanted to do domestic stuff. That's what made me happy. I could compete, but my happiness as a woman has been the traditional marital relationship with my husband. We have separate roles that complement each other and everyone is much happier this way. I am still working side things to help our financial goals. All in all I would say to young women that the stress from trying to do two roles is not worth it. You make yourself and your family miserable.

I could compete, but my happiness as a woman has been the traditional marital relationship with my husband. We have separate roles that complement each other and everyone is much happier this way.
