I honestly don't consider myself a "patriot" and I hate using that word. And now I gotta type it in every time i want to visit TD. Honestly liked the old domain better.

Patriot is one of the greatest words ever uttered.

Patriot is a great thing to be, a lot of public school and college education since the 60s tries to demoralize by teaching you that patriots are bad. I'm assuming you were demoralized or something. Why do you not like the word?

Loving what America's founding stood for is the core principle of MAGA.

Might be that. However, when I hear that word it just has a negative connotation imo and gives me a bad or pretentious image in my head.

How about Snow Flake does that give you a bad image..

No because everyone can image a Snow Flake and what it is made off.

The same with Patriot everyone can imagine what a Patriot is and what they are made off.

So IceCream: You probably do not even know what the word Patriot means and so I take this opportunity to educate you:

Patriot is a person who vigorously supports their country and is prepared to defend it against enemies or detractors.

I think pretentious is an odd connection to make and something individual. When demoralized lefties hear the word they picture an obese southern, poor, uneducated person that loves guns. It would convey poverty and lower class white America far more than it would something pretentious in my opinion. Curiously are you originally from a different country? I can see it having much different meanings in other countries.

Yeah, maybe pretentious is not the right word. Your image describes what I'm thinking better. I'm from New York.

In heavy lefty areas they like to virtue signal to each other about how ashamed they are in their country. Similar to the way Obama spoke: This country is disappointing but I'm hope and here to fix it for you. By separating themselves from the country they get a virtuous sense of elitism by being critical of it's wrong doings it makes them feel like they are good. It sounds to me like you just spent too much time in NYC and got infected some by the rhetoric. The word will generally make leftists upset, almost synonymous with terrorism to them. On that note I can sort of agree that in terms of a party name it's not going to be welcoming ever to Leftists so it's a bad choice that shoots itself in the foot if it's trying to win voters.

Patriot seems like the word racist to me. It is overused. If someone does something that seems noble they are dubbed a "patriot". I'm not necessarily a "patriot" by boomer standards, but I am sane. To some people those words may be synonymous.

How you or anyone can tie racist to patriot is absurd. Thats how radical Libs think

???? I am saying the word patriot is overused by the right. Like the word racist is overused by the left. I didn't say the two words equal each other. Geez, don't put words in my mouth before you start screeching.

I'm a trump supporter and I voted for him. I dunno why, but I just never liked using that word or calling myself a patriot.

"I'm a trump supporter" and made a user name about ice cream but not scoops... OKAY

1
IceCream [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

Don't know what that means but I literally just picked a simple username and Ice Cream was the first thing that came to my head. AND YES, I voted for Trump. This election was the first time I was able to vote and I can promise you I know I voted for him.

Would "Constitutionalist" be more appropriate?

1
wiombims 1 point ago +1 / -0

I'd like a constitutionalist .win containment board for all the dooming realpolitik assholes who happened to be right. It would just need a rule1 tweak.

it is just a word, why give it so much power over your thinking. If it makes you uncomfortable then maybe the left's propaganda is working on you.

“Republican”, yet these fucking traitors do not represent our republic they believe in Republic of Chyna.

Patriot believes in America first and fuck Chyna.

The only problem here is if you spite others for the symbolic meaning you give it, or understand what it means to them... subjectively of course. But it’s again Only cruel to cast a word away from others because of how you feel for it. The reasons are the symbolic nature of words, bible has a history of examples, with blood over this.

No, I love the word Patriot, especially since hidden in the word tells Patriots that they have the right to RIOT if necessary... :)
