I’m living with my parents during COVID and going to school online. They’re both highly educated and intelligent professionals (one went to an Ivy League school at 17, the other was summa cum laude). They’ve both fallen hard for the COVID crap and TDS, and it’s just sad (and stressful). When I mentioned that I’m a little nervous about the vaccine because it’s so new and the side effects aren’t proven to be worth the risk, it was met with scorn and ridicule. They both think that everything’s going to be much better now with Democrats controlling everything. They both think that Scandinavia is socialist, and because of it they support socialism. Thanks for helping me stay sane over the past year, y’all.

Edit: just for the record, we’re Jews in an extremely liberal city. God only knows how they gave birth to someone like me.

Education has nothing to do with their leftism. The most highly educated people I know are the stupidest leftists. Most frequently, these are people who only pay a glancing attention to current events. They'll find out what'll make them seem the coolest, hippest and most popular around their circle. They'll make sure to be seen supporting the most virtuous (neediest, marginalized and/or pathetic) in any current buzzy, trendy topic, and off they'll go!

They don't usually have any heartfelt connection to any issues because their ephemeral, easily bored or distracted minds are simply too undisciplined for fact-gathering. So, they just rely on what's told to them and they'll happily parrot all the proper phrases and positions to project an appearance of being with the righteous crowd (and not those mean, deplorable, contrarian subversives). How do they know we're mean, deplorable, contrarian or subversive? Their media herders tell them we are.
