I get that you’re replying to the results from the study he’s referencing, but you see equally disturbing rates of suicide across the entire trans community. Pre or post transition, very little difference.

I'd presume it's because a lot of people expect this magical transformation to happen where they'll suddenly be in their dream body, but a lot of the time that just doesn't happen. Then they get depressed because they're either a short, frumpy man, or this mannish ogre of a woman. The amount of money even needed to invest in surgeries to help correct that is insane too. Lots of plastic surgery. Even then sometimes it doesn't help. 75% of the transition process is your own genetics. Hopefully medicine and science will catch up one day.

I think it's simpler, many hate themselves and think that the transition will magically fix their problems. Hint: it doesn't
