I’ve figured out a way to get through this some of the time
I say remember before Trump, and they smile. And the I say if we were to talk about the American state, we might talk about war for oil in the Middle East, and they nod, or we could talk about how the CIA smuggled drugs into the country to help them pay for their illegal wars in Central America, more nodding. Or we could talk about lobbyists for the drug companies corrupt Congress into passing laws allowing them to charge exhorbitant prices for drugs people need, more nodding.
This stage can go on for as long as you’d like there are plenty of examples. I usually try to work the media in here a bit so you have military industrial complex, corporate lobbyists, politicians and mainstream media.
The kicker is this though
When you say, well what do you think it means, that the people responsible for ALL of that heinous shit are the ones who have been screaming at you for the last6 years that TRUMP is the bad guy!!??!!
If they have 1/16th of a brain this gets them a little
And now I finish it off with, well Trumps gone now, thank god we can go back to normal. And they look horrified
I usually talk about media and corporations having us chase commercial stuff accumulate debt etc
For some people I throw in how they have created the millennial snowflake culture, or cancel culture. Whatever I think the person I talking to will agree with.
The point is to remind them the they have just given power to the people who are responsible for whatever they think the problems with the country are by reminding them they existed before Trump
Had the same conversation with a family member. The brainwashing is real. No evidence can counter what the mainstream news states as "facts."
