When I encounter these people, it makes me think of one of my favorite literary characters- Sand dan Glokta, who said “An open mind is like to an open wound. Vulnerable to poison. Liable to fester. Apt to give its owner only pain.” So many have chosen to close their minds and ignore reason rather than face the concept of their moral superiority crumbling like the house of cards it is.
