DuckDuckGo just uses Bing search results, it's no different than Google. There are zero American search engines that are not curated/censored by left-wing corporations.
I usually use Yandex now when I need an uncensored search engine.
Many of those pull from Google/Bing/Yahoo APIs but dsearch (project at presearch.io) is well on their way to getting a decentralized search engine with community management of goals in place. You can also locally host a SearX instance and the others on that list are privacy respecting with surprisingly good results in many cases. Qwant especially has done right by me.
Yes it is, but it's also a very interesting spot for the Morrison government to stand up to corporations that see themselves as more powerful than governments.
You’re right, I don’t see how any search engine would be able to operate under this. God damn Australia. How retarded do you have to be to make me take google’s side?
It's not only for promoted links, it is for any links that show up in search to media. They would have to actively block them. Which would actually make things worse for the media, as they would get less traffic/ad revenue
If any alternative search engine out there wants to step up... give us a call. Sundar Pichai can fuck all the way off.
DUCK DUCK GO!!

Microsoft bought DuckDuckGo months ago ...
I did a search on google and they did not say this.
No?
That would explain the shit search results I've been getting from them lately
They'd make bank. That's an enormous chunk of market share they'd be stepping into.
Any search engine would have the sam problem if Australian law requires them to pay for any link to news media.
I agree Google should be banned for their Marxist activities, but the law is nuts.

They've been dealing out moronic policy for years now.
So don’t link to news media
taps side of head
