also we should not have to pay property / income tax for schooling reasons, if we don't utilize public schools.

That is a scam too.

Buy the smallest house you can stand. Dont worry about being in a "good" district if you're not using it. Use the savings and reduced taxes to pay for private school or offset the 2nd income you may have to give up!

i am planning to get involved locally to try and change this. ive had a few people say that is never going to happen, and that people in general dont want that. i look forward to learning more about it.

Disagree. The bad districts by me are in places I don't want to raise my kids. At all. I hate even taking them to the city and will not at night.

Okay. I didnt say "move to a good district."

But some folks don't do the math and realize that living in the "best" district is as expensive as living in a lesser district and paying for private school.

Agree... keep tpur family safe... but explore options that give you the financial flexibility for home school or private.
