I agree most with this statement. It is as though we reward single parenthood.
There was a time in this country when getting pregnant outside wedlock was looked down upon. In fact, often a family would move away or try to hide the fact that a woman had become knocked up with no husband in sight. Sometimes the grandparents would "adopt" the child to save the reputation of their daughter.
