I wish I could find an old essay I read from a retired Colonel. It was in the vein of why the military would comply with gun confiscation orders.

He argued that the military would never refuse an illegal order (like gun confiscation) because their training focused on discipline and following orders and never even broaches the topic of how to resist an illegal order. He sited a bunch of times throughout history where service members obeyed illegal orders, including blatant ones.

In the military, obedience and discipline are more important than oaths and loyalty.

Well said, I've seen numerous people on here claim that the military or police would never follow orders to confiscate guns. Simply not true at all, they WILL follow those orders.

Only the local police would resist.

Anyone who exists as a soldier for a desk jockey will be forced to come to your door and confiscate your guns. They will fear for their lives and will be jumpy as shit.

And you will wonder if you should give up your life to take out an armed grunt. You know that if enough die, they will stop coming, but you think your life is worth more than just one of these dick-heads. So maybe you'll wait for a better opportunity, let them take your guns this time. Maybe you can hide one or two. Maybe someone else was able to hide one or two. Maybe you can make some ammo in the future. Maybe you can make a pipe rifle with some know-how. Maybe you can take one out with a shovel next time they come.

If we give up our guns then any hope of freedom is truly lost.

At that point it comes down if you would rather live is a slave or die as a free man.

Agreed. Which is why if they are told to take the guns they WILL take them. They will just be "following orders!" as an excuse to do it too. Just look at the bootlickers in the comments. I get the idea of following orders but if you are given the order to shoot Americans how could you in good conscience obey that?? I would rather be court-martialed than do something that heinous. Yet we have people in the comments saying that would be justified because they would just be following orders lol.

Nuremberg was so recent and we this exact line of thinking come up again. Clearly it's a human nature problem.

But that’s pre-Holocaust. Nuremberg ended “just following orders”.

See: The Bonus Army. Gen. MacArthur uses tanks and bayonets to clear out veterans camping in D.C. looking for their WWI promised bonuses.

'Just following orders' isn't a defense either.

People are the top just shitting on people at the bottom either way I guess.

It is a defense when your side wins.
