WASHINGTON — Dr. Anthony Fauci, one of the government’s top public health experts, signaled that he feels free to speak honestly about Covid-19 now that former President Donald Trump is out of office. In his first news briefing since President Joe Biden was sworn in, Fauci said that the new administration was committed to being "completely transparent, open and honest," a sharp break from the Trump White House, when Fauci said he often felt there would be repercussions for speaking honestly about the pandemic. "It was very clear that there were things said, be it regarding things like hydroxychloroquine and other things like that, that really was uncomfortable because they were not based in scientific fact," Fauci told reporters, speaking about the Trump administration. "The idea that you can get up and talk about what you know, what the evidence is, what the science is," Fauci continued, "it is somewhat of a liberating feeling."
Yep gotta give him credit for that. Looks like he is in his 60s.
He's now serving under his SEVENTH President. He knows how to survive in the swamp, and minimize its impact on his real work. That said, he's basically retired from his real work now. This move from his position as Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, which he'd held since 1984, to his new position as Chief Medical Advisor to the President is effectively an acknwledgement of that.
Even though it's outside of his formal area of expertise, I expect he is actually pretty well-qualified to keep an eye on Biden's cognitive deterioration, and since he's past the point of needing or wanting to continue to be employed in the swamp, he may well put a lot of pressure on Biden's handlers to quit putting on the fraudulent show that Biden has the mental capacity to have any clue what's going on around him or what he's doing. Pretty sure he'll be making notes and keeping solid records of what he sees and hears in that department, and using that for leverage if and when he feels it's ethically warranted.
