As great as an actual competitive Patriot Party would be, in practice I think it would just split non-Democrat votes across two parties. Unless you can destroy the GOP to the point where they take it off the ballot, you're always going to have a certain percentage of people who buy into the propaganda, still have an emotional connection to the party, or just don't pay attention to anything and vote as they always have.
