Except you didn't break up with him. It's more like he was kidnapped in broad daylight and everyone saw it happen, including law enforcement officers, but they all just stood there and did nothing and went about their day and when you yelled for help and asked why no one is stopping the kidnapper, everyone called you a conspiracy theorist and racist and kicked you off of social media and told you the kidnapping never happened then they introduced you to some 80 year old man with dementia and told you that he's your boyfriend now and the other guy never existed.
