I used to have an idyllic idea of 'indians', brought to me by books and colorful images. Then I moved from the east coast to NM.

Seriously ... anyone here ever visited a reservation (that doesn't serve 'tourists')? Or been to Gallup, NM on ANY day? You know you're getting close when litter lines the road. Next clue: huge billboards to telling people how to properly dispose of trash and grease. Every block has someone stumbling home with their thumb out.

*the ONLY reason our Governor didn't shut down liquor stores like she shut down everything else .. 'cause it would be W A R ... and those waging war won't be noble or patriots, they'll just be fierce.

A large majority of these people have slid a far way from majestic and noble here in NM. They aren't looking for a hand up ... they're looking for a hand out.
