Believe it or not, the term cracker actually isn't negative. Depending on the source, it comes from a sort of lawless herdsman/nomad that roamed the mountains of Virginia, the Carolinas, Georgia, and north Florida. They also were known by that name because of their whip-cracking skills, both against cattle and slaves. To me, the term cracker/cracka isn't a bad thing.
Thank you for the background on this term. It's pretty interesting. Unfortunately, it has been use as a negative term referring to white people esp. where I grew up. I was called a "fuckin cracka" by a black guy and he was definitely not saying it in a positive way. The area of Texas where I was raised was very segregated (voluntarily) and blacks and whites didn't get along very well. As I said in my earlier comment, I didn't find it offensive just funny.
Should say Pale Skins or White Skins.
Would cracker work? I don't know, but I have been called a "cracka" before as an insult and it just made me laugh.
