Ok, I had a good 50's style civics knowledge, I never heard of Impeaching a president to specifically Prevent them From Running for the office Again, (so long as they have not completed Two Terms).

I've seen Mayors and Governors over the years get convicted of things and still Run for office, I recall Several got re-elected serving or pending sentences.

This whole Notion of them Impeaching President Trump to prevent his second Term Seems Made Up to Me ?

aNYONE kNOW ?

I think it's just to implant the Notion that WHEN he Runs Next Time, it would be an easy Headiline that to run would be illegitimate no ?

The Constitution is vague, perhaps intentionally. The problem is, if they do this, they open up a whole can of worms. Could someone running for the office be impeached? Can we retroactively impeach any President? What they are doing is typical of Democrats. They constantly change rules which wind up biting them in the ass.
