I think taking over the party and gutting it, and emplacing ideological benchmarks and demanding compliance are what are needed.

A totally new political party must have local strength first, then statewide before it can be effective at the national level. Easier to have a MAGA takeover of the GOP than to create an new, and competing brand. It's why brands and companies are bought up. It is easier because the brand is already known. MAGA GOP would be the new and improved version.
