This situation is nothing like the civil war time period, we are currently the most powerful empire ever to exist in world history, at the time of the civil war we were a fledgling nation certainly not a global empire. The optics would be so bad if the left took military action to try to hold together a dying empire I doubt they would ever try. Why not just try seceding and then walk it back if a war really did seem likely to start? Even then the position of the right would be strengthened as almost having a civil war start would further undermine the leftists as they would be the ones threatening to start it. We shouldn't want war at all because we probably don't need it.

Or we can secede and let them come and take it. Fuck them. They need to pay, and need to know that we mean business

Most troops won't fight. Alot will desert the cause to fight their own families.

True. Regardless, we need to show them

I don’t want to subsidize those states who let their cities burn down over the summer. Let’s start with that.

I was thinking, just the act of secession could trigger the US dollar losing reserve currency status, making it impossible for government to fund wars without causing massive economic pain at home. It could literally lead to more peace than we have now, with the fed eternally financing our enemies at our expense with the inflation tax.

If you think leftists will allow states to leave without conflict you have learned nothing.

What do you think they'll do?

Anything and everything. The left don't care about "optics" like the right does because the media will cover for them every which way that they can while deflecting it onto the right. If Texas starts the process to leave we'll see everything from false flags to blatant action. The antifa that snuck their way into the group and pushed for what happened on the 6th? The massing of troops? That was a preview and warning.

What people on the right fail to realize is the left do not have morals. They don't care if something is wrong. They don't care about rules and laws. They don't care about anything but winning no matter the cost. The "moral highground" is a joke to them. Trying to take yourself and think about what you would be willing to do is pointless because you aren't willing to do what they are. Look at what they've accomplished and ask yourself what they wouldn't be willing to do to win. I'd bet that you'd be wrong because you cannot strip away your moral framework to even imagine what they would do.

Ya know, it's hilarious and sad. If the federal government just stuck to minimalism, we wouldn't even be having this conversation nor would we care much who had won the presidency.
