Yesterday with the EO on banning drilling on Fed lands, the price of oil is shooting up and it looks like the Permian Basin Texas oil companies are back in business.

You would think, but 75% of new exploration has been on the New Mexico side of the basin. Even before the crash in March the Texas side of the basin was getting the bare minimum of investment on infrastructure.

actually fracking is a losing situation...It really Fs with the water and I just pray it doesnt contaminate the aquifers....That stuff(waste water from fracking) is radioactive in many cases..

It's been getting refined since it came on strong in the barnett shale in north texas and pennsylvania in the early 2000s. 97% of the wells fracked in the permian and eagleford shale are well over 3000 feet deep, well below the aquifer table.

Now don't get me wrong I'm not one of those drill baby drill no matter the consequences people, the oil field just fell in my lap, but I learned a ton of ins and outs the average person doesn't ever get to see or hear about. Fracking still has a ton of room to improve still but it has improved since the fiascos that occured in the early days of it's mass use.

And an out right ban on fracking with out other industries ready to take on new personal would put tens of thousands out of well paying jobs. Not just the actual fracking crews and support positions, but the sand mining and truck drivers. Just around the midland/odessa area there are like 6-8 huge sand mining operations, the eagleford shale area in south texas has 2 or 3, and wisconsin of all places has quite a few mining the white sand up there.
