But how is an attack on a federal building worse than an attack on private businesses and residences? The government exists to protect the people. Not vice versa.

Fuck the Feds.

bingo... and nothing got burned down. Broken window, shuffled furniture around, and laptop stolen.

If not for Ashley Babbit and the heart attacks, you'd think it was a frat party.

The media told them it was. Its just conditioning with these people.

I don't even bother anymore. It usually goes right over their heads, otherwise they just move the goal posts. You're never going to get through to them.

It just depends on how you look at it. The damage and insanity of BLM riots was certainly much much greater but the Capitol Building is where the absolute most powerful people in the country work so of course the response is going to be extreme when the building is breached, regardless of intent.

Is it not a problem when we afford protections to the elite but not the common? All men are created equal.

Everyone deserves protection when their livelihood is being threatened but as a society we've all basically agreed that the powerful need the most protection because if they get taken out, the ship goes off course versus if a gas station owner dies, somebody else takes over in a day. Not saying it's right, that's just the justification our nation has.

No. Nope. Was it a crisis when a lefty literally shot up a GOP baseball game? No.

Private citizens deserve much more protection than public.

So Trump should go around casually in his own car and just hope he doesn't get jumped?

We’d be a much healthier society if we didn’t treat our politicians as a subset of royalty. Sorry if that doesn’t sit well, but no one should get my tax dollars to live like a king or queen.

So answer the question that I've asked you twice now.

The-nii [S] 3 points ago +3 / -0

The question is why are their lives worth more than mine or yours. That was never the intention, but it’s certainly been the perception by most for years/decades/generations.

I mean, would you be comfortable with Trump walking the streets of Seattle without any security to show that all lives are equal? We generally give extra protection to those in power because we've collectively agreed that those are the people we need to entrust our livelihoods to.

Wow. You are part of the problem. I entrust myself to my fellow citizens. I (try) to elect people who will represent me. I will never treat another person as a better due to birth or office.

That's terrific and I agree whole-heartedly. Can you answer the question now?

The-nii [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

You asked it once and I’ve answered it. No special treatment for anyone. The amount we spend on security and offices for ex presidents is absurd. I care a lot more about my Sister’s welfare, my Parents, my nephew.

Family trumps government in my case. I’d be happy to see every big DC building burn to the ground. Oops. I’m gonna cost you some tax dollars because some glowie is going to track me down. (Legal reminder that there is no ill intent here)

That's all well and good but it would ultimately result in anarchy if every politician was one mugging away from leaving office. Someone votes against you? Take em out in the alley.

If I was still talking to lefty friends, that would be good question.
