How about we tax politicians everytime they come up with a stupid fucking idea?

163
thatsaltylion [S] 163 points ago +164 / -1

This country would be out of debt and in the green in a months time.

57
jpower 57 points ago +58 / -1

The more these stupid ideas come out of the shithole that is the Biden/Hairys administration, the more I think there is a plan and that the administration isn't real.

6
MeatloafFvck 6 points ago +6 / -0

This was floated during the Obama administration as well - this is Obama 2.0

72
Olds77 72 points ago +72 / -0

Arnold Schwarzenegger proposed this retarded idea over a decade ago. Fuck him and every movie he's made in the last 20 years and fuck this Buttigeig asshole too.

34
Azrael1776 34 points ago +34 / -0

He'd supposedly like that.

8
TheMAGAlorian787 8 points ago +8 / -0

Lol, beat me to it 🤣

35
jda70 35 points ago +36 / -1

How about we just tax them? period?

8
acasper 8 points ago +8 / -0

Because tracking by the mile is not a regressive tax lol. They spent so much time on this issue but it’s magically not a concern now

2
CrackerJack2 2 points ago +2 / -0

See,
This is a way of attacking primarily Republicans who live in the suburbs and/or countryside.
Then they, the democRATs, tax us so they can make billions of dollars building mass transit, that helps spread the "ALL DEADLY" COVID-19, a.k.a. Wuhan China FLU.
We need to throw T AXES right back at them, figuratively speaking, that is.

32
CahalTheMad 32 points ago +34 / -2

How about we tax them for every breath they take instead?

18
fegeline 18 points ago +18 / -0

Don't give them any ideas, some of them actually browse this site just to steal stupid ideas from people mocking them.

7
JoePedoCheated 7 points ago +7 / -0

Well that's essentially what a carbon tax begins to do seeing as how we exhale carbon dioxide with every single breath we take. So you're not far off.

2
Squeaker 2 points ago +2 / -0

They would likely do this by tracking your medical info. Standard blood pressure checks or fitbit heart rate. Don't give them ideas.

1
Themustardtiger 1 point ago +1 / -0

Oh we have that tax in Ontario Canada carbon tax!

12
MocksFordComma 12 points ago +12 / -0

How many feathers and how much tar in this tax?

party12 208 points ago +208 / -0

Could someone explain to that genius that the tax on gas actually does tax Americans for the number of miles they drive? is everyone feeling better that we have such a forward thinking and creative Incoming Transportation Secretary??

146
UnemployedMarx 146 points ago +146 / -0

Perhaps the tax isn't about anything other than an excuse to track people.

77
fegeline 77 points ago +77 / -0

Ding, ding, ding, we got a winner.

They will pretend it's for "the environment", but we know that's not the case. They want to track people, and they want to make it expensive to live outside of a mega city, hoping that it will make more people move to the city and become more depending on the government to survive.

34
Socialismsuckz 34 points ago +34 / -0

They also want only the rich to be able to travel.....

OoooJackieBlue 39 points ago +39 / -0

It also takes a direct hit to the working class that doesn't live in urban areas. Where I live, everyone drives a fair distance to work. Twenty-five miles one way is the norm. It's almost solid red country, so good way to punish the opposition.

11
Gilead 11 points ago +11 / -0

I drive 40 miles to work and back. If this tax passes I’m gunna be so fucking pissed off.

19
Azrael1776 19 points ago +19 / -0

Could be two fold. A way to track but also a way to keep people from going out as much. Less interaction, less community, more obedience.

5
LirukDatan 5 points ago +5 / -0

Less going to rallies or protests.

Sit at home, watch CNN.

13
Ato3K 13 points ago +13 / -0

Track and limit freedom of movement. This country is going to explode.

10
NomadicKrow2 10 points ago +10 / -0

That's hilarious. I don't know why, but my tracker keeps breaking. I have no idea how it happens, but every time it gets fixed and I go home, it's broken the next day. That's crazy.

42
Semmelweis 42 points ago +42 / -0

"BUT ELECTRIC CARS BE THE FUTURE!" - Some fucking idiot that never looked at their power bill and realized there's a "energy tax".

18
fegeline 18 points ago +18 / -0

A combustion engine can run on most burning liquids, fossil fuels like gasoline/diesel, and most important Ethanol which we could grow ourselves. Natural and biogas works too, biogas can be produced from shit, making it a renewable energy source.

This means that combustion engines is a way to become self sustainable, the left don't want that. The left want everyone to depend on their centralized sources of energy, basically so that they can disconnect anyone who doesn't bend over on their command.

Any leftist claiming that they "care about the environment" is a liar and hypocrite. All they want is total control over the energy production and distribution.

13
GEOTUSMAGA 13 points ago +13 / -0

Fuck ethanol. I want pure dinosaur.

8
fegeline 8 points ago +8 / -0

It's funny how the environmentalist movement has yelled about oil reserves running out in just a few years, ever since the 70's. Hasn't happened yet obviously and there's still plenty of oil available.

Now they've changed their narrative, claiming that photosynthesis doesn't exist and that the process of geology in where real oil is created suddenly no longer works, but they can't explain it, they just believe in it for some reason.

Commies can bark all they want, as long as I can get pure dinosaur that's why my car get, shes old and deserves only the best.

2
2016TrumpMAGA 2 points ago +2 / -0

"Peak Oil" has been a thing since the 1910s. In 1919 the chief geologist of the USGS said it would happen in three years.

1
fegeline 1 point ago +1 / -0

It's almost as if they only count on the already existing oil sources, not expecting more to be found eventually.

4
rob0Pede 4 points ago +4 / -0

It’s the only way I’ll ever get to ride a dinosaur. The only way to travel.

4
MAGA_Flocka_Flame 4 points ago +4 / -0

3
fegeline 3 points ago +3 / -0

As long as it burns, it's pure energy.

16
Semmelweis 16 points ago +16 / -0

And to add some nuance to this, there has been some back and forth in the trucking industry about when we're going to drag all the fucking faggot electric car drivers through the coals for IFTA.

15
GEOTUSMAGA 15 points ago +15 / -0

TESLA IS A COAL-POWERED CAR

changemymind.jpg

8
Blue_Country_Refugee 8 points ago +9 / -1

cmon guys. That's not the argument. Gas taxes pay for the roads. Therefore electric cars can use the roads more or less for free while still putting more wear and tear on the roads as an internal combustion engine due to the higher weight of the electric car.

It's bad enough that we give $8k tax credits to these electric pieces of shit but then they also get to shift the entire burden of road maintenance onto those of us who cant afford a $90k Tesla.

Its bullshit. The type of engine your car has is irrelevant to road wear, which is largely a function of vehicle weight. SURPRISE! Electric vehicles are significantly heavier than their gas counterparts. A Tesla model S is 5000lbs, 1500lbs more than a Toyota Camry and 1200lbs more than a BMW 5 series.

4
NomadicKrow2 4 points ago +4 / -0

And to make that electricity, we have to burn more fuel. Hell, at one of those charging stations, I saw a picture of the diesel generator next to it providing the electricity.

17
purepepelegends 17 points ago +17 / -0

Maybe we can propose a tax on number of miles of poops that come out of pete's ass. to save the environment.

4
jaynap1 4 points ago +4 / -0

Or the miles of something else that goes in. 👀

12
iminurbase 12 points ago +12 / -0

I guess they want to punish the Tesla drivers too. Oh and they absolutely salivate at the chance to tax everyone else twice or more.

TheOutlawPepeWales 47 points ago +47 / -0

LOL, Transportation Secretary. What are his qualifications, that he used to drive a truck and is willing to suck dick to get ahead?

29
CuckS1ayer 29 points ago +29 / -0

I have a drivers license. I am more than qualified for this regime.

23
TheOutlawPepeWales 23 points ago +24 / -1

My dad was feeding the cats recently and for some reason (he's had a lot of strokes) decided he needed to take the empty bowls up to the trash at the end of the driveway, so he used the car because he can hardly walk anymore. When he got there he just kept going. The police called us an hour later to come pick him up. He was at the auto parts store, with the cat bowls, in his underwear, asking for directions to New York. I'm pretty sure he's qualified for this regime too. Biden is lucky the Secret Service doesn't let Presidents drive themselves.

11
CuckS1ayer 11 points ago +12 / -1

Your dad sounds like a fun guy!

11
TheOutlawPepeWales 11 points ago +11 / -0

Yeah, he's a real barrel of monkeys. I like to offend liberals by telling them we're getting him a shock collar so he doesn't wander off again. Then we set the border to just outside the bathroom and watch the hilarity ensue. (Don't worry, that's why he's wearing the diaper.)

2
CrackerJack2 2 points ago +2 / -0

Down voted you because you used the P word in association with Biden.
He is NOT in my eyes ever qualified.
Otherwise a sad but funny story!

2
TheOutlawPepeWales 2 points ago +2 / -0

Fair enough.

11
ShitOfPeace 11 points ago +11 / -0

He has a personal love if transportation.

That was literally what the administration said when asked about his qualifications.

Also, they claimed he would.be the first openly gay cabinet secretary, as if Rick Grenell doesn't exist.

38
freedomcries 38 points ago +38 / -0

carbon tax.... its all a part of the scheme... like as if the taxes at the pump are not relevent to the mileage? Or is it that more efficient cars provide less tax dollars? Bologna!!!

23
Deplora 23 points ago +24 / -1

This has been proposed before. The concern is that as more electric vehicles come into use, there will be a lot of tax revenue lost because gasoline and diesel taxes currently generate a lot of revenue.

13
fauxgnaws 13 points ago +13 / -0

Electric cars will also get taxed per mile, they'll just get a rebate for a while. They want the information on where you drive and the power to raise taxes at any time and make you drive less.

Like Covid-21 they'll say we need to temporarily raise the miles-driven tax to $100/mile except for critical jobs... and politicians' families.

2
Teapede 2 points ago +2 / -0

If they have a tracker its not a leap of thought to say they could probably have the ability to hack your car and force it to not start if there's "congestion issues"

4
Mr-J 4 points ago +4 / -0

dems keep back electric for this reason, they only talk about going green to get votes than give the finger to their voters lol

20
pj1991 20 points ago +21 / -1

Ummm... Isn't that the point? Just a clever way of saying: "hey, we need to save the environment! Let's tax the number of miles citizens drive. It will help reduce the carbon footprint." Without informing them that they need to implement a tracking device in their vehicles to ensure their quotas have not exceeded the limit; Another sly way to implement the "NSA patriot act."

2
1A2A 2 points ago +2 / -0

Or informing them that carbon is good and boost plant life as history has proven over and over with ice core samples. But, hey, trust the “science!”

11
Beltfed 11 points ago +12 / -1

That is unenforceable as fuck. Where I live at least.

11

They will just withhold road, school, police funding until states comply and states always roll over foe the $$$$.

9
RememberKosciuszko 9 points ago +9 / -0

Lmao

But, even if - why the fuck trackers? Can't you just just check mileage once in a time?

In more modern vehicles even if you can screw with mileage it's traceable

10
tremendous_trump2020 10 points ago +10 / -0

The trackers provide a windfall for politicians who will secretly invest heavily in the companies who will manufacture and retrofit them into our cars, right before this gets signed into law.

8
RememberKosciuszko 8 points ago +8 / -0

Yeah, I know, plus mass surveillance and shit

Tried to point out the bullshit

6
purepepelegends 6 points ago +7 / -1

Right, they'd most likely just track it through the DMV where they need to record your mileage to register the car every year. I mean, that'd be the less creepy way of doing it. The conversation should never be how they'll do it, but that the concept of a tax on miles driven is unacceptable.

8
JesusPay 8 points ago +8 / -0

I don't report mileage to our DMV. Yet.

3
purepepelegends 3 points ago +3 / -0

I don't think anyone does. Yet. That's what I'm saying. I was just proposing a way they could implement such a tax without installing "trackers" on every car.

2
JamesClarker 2 points ago +2 / -0

In PA, you report your milesge during your annual registration and during your annual inspection.

3
Jujubees 3 points ago +3 / -0

Every year when I pay for new tags, I have to get a smog test and they enter the mileage on the report that’s electronically sent to the DMV.

4
Supersoakerjones 4 points ago +4 / -0

It's often overlooked that the gas tax is included in the price of gas so you're already de facto paying for the number of miles you drive.

1
Squeaker 1 point ago +1 / -0

It won't matter. They'll add another one. In CA we pay tax upon tax for roads and such even though we're supposedly already taxed at the pump for it. And yet our roads are still utter shit.

3
SquidThrowFaux 3 points ago +3 / -0

Drive backwards and the government owes you monies!

. . yes, I know.

8
seeyouinvalhalla 8 points ago +8 / -0

The most unqualified transportation secretary ever.

Why are Republicans just allowing them to get through? Every trump nominee was delayed for months.

6
SkilledAmerican 6 points ago +6 / -0

TESLA cannot start until you have entered credit card for mileage tax

5
IGfodder 5 points ago +5 / -0

This has been in the works since 2019 and is an idea to replace the current gasoline tax, which is around 18 cents a gallon. The current proposed tax for this would be about 1.7 cents a mile. The tracker is concerning and I very much dislike it, dislike the whole thing honestly but this isn't new and isn't thought of by biden. Trump actually discussed this with his department of transportation head multiple times.

6
NeoDragoon 6 points ago +6 / -0

1.7 cents a mile, so just over 10 miles to a gallon gets you that 18 cents, this is pretty much a sneaky way to nearly quadruple the tax, based upon the presented fuel economy demands AND help the police state.

4
thatsaltylion [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

I had no idea. Thanks for the information. That tracking is very concerning but they're already doing that in other ways so 🤷 Time to figure out how to live in the woods.

4
the-new-style 4 points ago +4 / -0

The United States federal excise tax on gasoline is 18.4 cents per gallon and 24.4 cents per gallon for diesel fuel.

Americans already pay tax for the number of miles they drive.

2
RentedMule 2 points ago +2 / -0

I was just going to say this. Our current fuel tax already causes you to pay more taxes if you drive more miles.

4
Nellie_the_Beaut 4 points ago +4 / -0

Good old American Psycho Newsom is waaaay ahead of Pete. He’s trying to implement this in CA by next year! As far as Commie elitists are concerned, Your Car = Cash.

4
JesusPay 4 points ago +4 / -0

Every toll road is a privacy concern. One can track miles with odometer. Cars already have it.

3
castratedbob 3 points ago +3 / -0

Lol, this sounds like the RUC tax they put on diesels when I was growing up in NZ. It costs a set amount for every 5000 km you drove. So we just disconnected the control cluster for 11.5 months of the year and reconnected it for the last couple weeks before warrant of fitness. All it does is fuck over truck drivers now. Stupidity is endemic to politicians everywhere.

3
Super_degenerate 3 points ago +3 / -0

2

2
Lipscarf 2 points ago +2 / -0

They have been floating this in WA for a long time. We call it a VMT tax (vehicle miles traveled). This would allow the govt. to charge us higher rates to drive certain streets or during peak hours. This is overreach of the highest order and I will NEVER allow a government GPS in my vehicle.

2
Garidion 2 points ago +2 / -0

I'm not sure if anyone said this yet, but I understand slightly why this is being thrown around. I once worked for a state senator and he sat on the transportation board. Once a car gets better than 20 miles to the gallon the gas tax no longer makes enough to pay for infrastructure which is one of the reasons for crumbling roads in the US. The thinking when I was around was this invaded privacy and hurt the poorest of Americans as they would be paying more bc they're driving the older less efficient cars. Basically making the poor pay for the rich people with electric cars roads. So I can see why they like it.

2
deklein 2 points ago +2 / -0

Other than converting his own asshole from a one way street, to a two way street, what makes this guy qualified to be TRANS. Sec?

Maybe it's because he was he the mayor of a city that many fled via some sort of roadway?

2
