America is exceptional. I will explain why below.

In order to have reconciliation with the past and with each other we need the truth to be brought to light.

1. America did not invent slavery. Nor is this an “original sin”.

The institution of slavery is a global and pan-historic phenomenon.

2. The principles that this nation were founded on directly led to the abolition of slavery.

3. The material and intellectual success of ALL people in America today can be traced to the exceptional system of philosophy and government initiated by our ancestors.

4. It is our individual duty to take responsibility for the course of our lives and to not fall victim to hate, apathy, violence and ignorance.

One question:

How can America have “original sin” when sin is an purely an individual attribute?
