(Quoting letter from governor) “Mr. Martinez has dedicated himself to his rehabilitation and becoming a productive citizen”. His original sentence was life without parole. Unfortunately the victim, who by all accounts was a nice, law-abiding person, lost his chance to be a productive citizen on that June day in 1990. Suggest you speak up in protest because God only knows where this “rehabilitated” guy may end up living. I believe life without parole should always be life without parole. You don’t get a “get out of jail free” card because you all of a sudden are a well behaved, remorseful person.

He'll be back in the ca prison system is not created for rehabilitation. My uncle did 12 years for beating the man who molested him when he was a child to death with a baseball bat. He cried in the grocery store on day 1 because he was given choices, he could no longer function in the real world. He turned to drugs and ended up back in the system.

Unfortunately the only problem is when they return it’s because there have been more victim(s) of some kind of crime. I think judges (who give light sentences or timed served) and governors who pardon should be accountable if someone is victimized, murdered, raped, etc., especially.
