Wonder if something like this could be worked on a state by state basis in the US.

Why would Australia care? I have been using other search engines for years now and dropped Google like it was nothing. I still don't understand this one. 10 years ago, losing Google was an issue, but now?

It's good because it makes Google pay up.

And Google likes to pay up

But only to the right people

Yeah, I don't get it. Google is popular, but there are so many other options. I think Microsoft is a crazy company, but even using Bing is better than Google. I guess people are just stuck in thier ways and naive.

Its not about Australia's home users. Its about their media getting paid for the their content and Google throwing a hissy fit. Did you read the article?

Yes. My point is why would Australia care if Google leaves? They are not getting paid now.

This woke me up to the fact that I still had a bunch of my old writing saved onto Google Drive. Spent most of yesterday making backups on my local drive and a few USBs.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for a safe place to set up an e-mail address? I've stopped using Google for everything else, but I still have a gmail set as my primary e-mail from way back when. Suggestions?

GOOGLE THREATENS TO HOLD IT'S BREATH UNTIL IT PASSES OUT AND HITS IT'S HEAD ON THE FLOOR.

I hope they do it. Other search engines and techniques, including distributed and cooperative search engines, will arise.

I'd be happy to have a search engine that just indexed the good stuff. Not dynamic pages using your search terms against you, like this:

Are you looking for trunalimunumaprzure ? We have the greatest selection of trunalimunumaprzure.

spam links, keyword ads, ordering by propaganda ....

Given how much fuckery they do, I can totally live without google.

This is hardly a threat.
