During the great Twitter purge of January 2021 a lot of original-content (OC) was lost. I remember one video that gave concrete evidence of media conglomeration where many news channels read from the word-by-word, exactly the same script. Due to patriots.win being a mission platform I would like to ask you guys if you know of any backup of said video. The video had a split-view of many news channels with their anchors. At one point it synced up the speech of many news anchors from different stations and they matched almost perfectly. While this evidence does not exclude an insider joke, I find the situation behind it very intriguing. At a minimum it does show an organisational effort above surface-level media companies.

I worked in the media business for a lot of years. I’ve since recovered.

I’ll try to say this without being flippant, but those commercials aren’t something sinister to really worry about by themselves. What you’re seeing in those clips is a syndicated news PSA from Sinclair Broadcasting affiliates.

What exactly does that mean? Most small local news stations don’t have the staff to cover much outside of their core coverage area, so they rely on syndicated news to fill out the remainder. As part of that contract, they’re also required to occasionally read public service announcements from the syndicator in their market, which is what we’re seeing here. That’s why they’re all identical, because they’re reading the same syndicated script.

However... what these videos do illustrate is just how many local news stations are subscribing to a single source for news outside of their market, and that is where we should be worried. Six conglomerates control the media we consume in this country, and have massive influence over what we think.

We need to address that before it’s too late. Thanks Bill Clinton.

You deliver quite an insightful response! Thank you. I have found an article that lists the 6 of the conglomerates: https://www.webfx.com/blog/internet/the-6-companies-that-own-almost-all-media-infographic/

Unfortunately there is no mention of Sinclair in that article. But I did find a teenvogue article that mentions it and accuses Sinclair of being right-wing, wishy washy with their objectivity: https://www.teenvogue.com/story/sinclair-broadcast-group-and-media-monopolies-explained
